Tulku Thubten Rinpoche

Tulku Thubten Rinpoche is one of the resident Lamas at Pema ’ö-Sel Ling, and has been a friend of Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen since 1992. Tulku Thubten Rinpoche is a Nyingma incarnation from Golok and has told Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen many accounts of life in Golok. They share a love of western boots and horseriding and it was Tulku Thubten Rinpoche who first told Ngak’chang Rinpoche about the Tibetan saying (advice given concerning Goloks by people from Lhasa) which runs thus: Even if you are on your death bed – if you hear there is man from Golok coming your way, you should get up and run away.

Tulku Thubten Rinpoche is one of the most gentle people I have ever met. It is always a pleasure to meet with Tulku Thubten Rinpoche and whenever I visit Pema ’ö-Sel Ling we have lunch together and discuss our work in respect of Vajrayana. Tulku Thubten Rinpoche told me that there are many photographs of ngakpas and gTértöns available in Golok and I hope one day to be able to access some of these images for our website.
